Page 1 of 3 The Chronicler's Bit
Greetings and Felicitations to the good gentles of the Isles. All across the country, garden furniture is being turned into weapons, charity shops are being raided and significant others are being driven demented by the incesseant babbilings of their deranged partners. Yes, it is the start of the Tourney season again. To celebrate this and the fact that WarbandsII is now upon us, It has been decided that this should this issue of the Blether has been developed as a special Warbands commemerative issue.
Harplestane has awoken from its Winter slumber. The armour has been dusted down, tabards cleaned and a long and intenese period of training consisting of inebriated conversations in the pub going over famous victoires has begun. (it doesn't take long to talk about our victories but they are intense.)
Our incumbent Marshall has been in post for far too long now and his particular style is begining to come to the fore. In fact this modest individual has written a treatise on war tactics which will go down in the annuals of SCA literature (His words not mine). The shire levy have been practising these for several weeks now and are preparing themselves to be killed in new and interesting ways. A copy of this thin document has been smuggled out from the secret Harplestane training camp and is reproduced later in this magazine, Exclusive to the pay-as-you-read subscribers to the Blether.
Tancred Beerswiller has graciously agreed to impart some of his vast knowldge in the first of an occasional series. (Any litigation or challenges should be sent directly to Tancred. Any sentiments expressed are not necessarily shared by the Chronicler or the rest of the shire).
I have in my grubby paw the latest issue of the Flame. While no where near as irreverant as the Blether it is far more informative, has consderably fewer typos and has an excellent article on armouring. Well worth a read or three. Congratulations to Michael de Lacy on an excellent magazine.
The Baelfyr. The Isles magazine seems to have vanished, possibly due in no small part to its Chronicler being called overseas unexpectedly. I wait with baited breath to see if it will be resurrected.
This magazine has been approved by the autheticity police.
