Transferring the pattern
ImageIf the fabric is dark and heavy enough you can draw directly onto it with a chalk pencil. Normally though, the trace and tack method is the easiest to use. Trace the design onto tracing or greaseproof paper and pin it onto the fabric.

Next, tack through the paper and the fabric. Once the pattern is complete, scratch along the lines with a pin in order to break the paper so it can easily lifted off the fabric.
