Filling a shape
When filling an area, particularly one of a complex shape, it is best to start at the perimeter of the area and then work into the centre. This ensures that the area is the shape it is meant to be, as it is very difficult to create a shape correctly from the centre out. In some cases it also helps to start the two passing threads a little was apart, in order to maintain a smooth edge to the shape.
